Anthracite is used as a component of dual or multi-media filters for potable water in conjunction with sand (and possibly garnet). The inclusion of a layer of anthracite above the sand ensures longer filter run times and higher filtration rates by relieving the coarse particulate load on the sand.
Several sizes are available: 0.6-1.18mm, 0.8-1.6mm, 1.18-2.5mm, 1.4-2.5mm and 2.5-4mm.
A specially selected natural anthracite with high carbon content (>90%) and low in volatiles, this product complies with the standard BS EN 12909:2005 (Products used for the treatment of water intended for human consumption – Anthracite).
Anthracite is available in 25Kg sacks.
